I’m not a sneakerhead, by any means, but ever since I’ve seen Back to the Future, I’ve been in love with the Marty McFly’s. It seems that Nike is finally starting put the plans together for creating these self-laced shoes. According to the movie, McFly’s should be released sometime in 2015. Only 5 more years.

Nike. Adidas. Converse. For the past decades sneakers have been a staple in American fashion as much as white t-shirts and blue jeans. Just like apple pie, everyone in America had a pair and wore them with pride. The past couple of years have seen an influx of sneakers hitting our closets; partly because of the retro 80’s comeback and partly because the design aspect of creating “high fashion” sneakers have exploded. Although, sneakers will not be leaving the American mindset anytime soon there is a new revolution appearing in the way of dress shoes.

The word “dress shoe” brings to mind boring church services or never ending weddings, but this post is focusing on brogues and wingtips. Brogues are low heeled, leather bound shoes that originate from Ireland. They are often viewed as the country man’s shoes and are less formal than their counterpart: the oxford. Nonetheless compared to sneakers, they are screaming high-class. The colors are often limited to all black, a light chestnut color, and an almost chocolate brown. The name wingtips come from the “W” design that appears on the tip of some brogues.

An Andre 3000 verse are like Elvis sightings. They rarely happen, but when they do the whole world freezes and watches. Here Andre spits a couple of verses that are semi-reminiscent of “International Player’s Anthem”, but it’s a bit difficult to hear with all the tags.

It appears that all things are headed to men wearing full blown suits and the great thing is that it doesn’t require an invitation to a wedding. Tom Ford’s Fall+Winter collection shows that suits don’t have to have negative connotations of being snobby. They can be worn playfully with pieces of velvet thrown into the mix.

Fashion label, Nom de Guerre–translates to “war names”–, have taken their name seriously with their Fall and Winter collection. Their lookbook named “Countdown to Violence” has a deep militaristic theme, as well as a slight  “black power” undertone. The collection is filled with form fitting blazers and suits that seems to be paletted in all black.

We’ve entered a world where accessories are key to creating originality in terms of style. Unfortunately for guys, we only have 3 accessories that are seen as acceptable and even with these three, we are not allowed to go over the top with them. What are these three you ask? Watches. Necklaces. Rings. What makes it irritating is that these “accessories” have alternative uses than just being stylish.

With watches it is seen as more of a tool than an accessory. Watches are meant to tell time, even though we have thousands of technological innovations that do the same thing. Rings mostly symbolize things, whether it’s our class ring or wedding ring. It’s only necklaces that can be seen as a true accessory.

Once again guys are out of luck.

Then entered the brooch.
