Before we talk about the content,  can I just say the visionary who thought up the two covers is genius. Not only am I in awe of Kid Cudi’s “breaking into a nebula” shot, but the Rosewood styling is crisp. Nicki Minaj’s shot is minimalism at its best. For someone who usually wears pink and green wigs and outlandish outfits, it is nice to see a somewhat toned down Nicki.

Sidenote: She keeps getting gorgeous everyday (#groupietalk).

Complex also posted the interviews with both artists, where Cudi talks about his former cocaine habit and goes a bit in on Wale. Here is a short snippet.

I’m not muslim, but I do respect the dedication that most muslims have when it comes to their faith. Currently, muslims around the world are celebrating Ramadan. For those who don’t know, Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calender. During that month, muslims are to refrain from food, water, and sex during sunlight. It is meant to teach patience and spirituality within the culture.

Here are some amazing photos that I found through boston.com’s Big Picture posts.

There’s nothing more I like than wet women. No pun intended. To be serious though, this collection of photographs–shot by Amanda Langford in 1988–is as relevant now than they were then. Every piece of clothing worn by these models could still be in a fashionista’s closet today. Fashion is fades, but style is timeless.

Gemmy does an amazing job modeling these clothes. My only issue is I don’t know who made these clothes because the design is sick. Oh well, all that is left is enjoy the modeling and photography courtesy of Shamayim.

Nowadays people say that Twitter is the new Facebook. Not long before that Facebook was the new Myspace. This evolution of social networking hierarchy took place in less than 5 years. Those who grew up in the myspace age remembers how your page was a window into what made you click. You would create lists debating whether or not you enjoyed McDonalds or Burger King, you posted pictures that you took in your bathroom and showcased it for the world to see and you had the option to personalize your myspace with backgrounds of your favorite musical artist or maybe just glitter. Those were the days when social networking was young and naive. The glory days.

Artists, like M.I.A., would used myspace as a launching board to start their careers. In her single “XXXO”, Maya, is paying homage to the initial social networking sight with cheesy glitter effects, prancing unicorns, and all. Although the video has many effects going on, M.I.A. is distant just like social networking was supposedly supposed to do with humans.

The plan was actually to post this last week, but I didn’t. There were other things on my mind and somehow this got put off, not to say what Volpin Props did wasn’t interesting. It’s more than that, it’s truly amazing. He spent 17 months constructing this helmet from cardboard, to clay, to plastic until he got the final result.  He to “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” to heart when making this helmet. There really isn’t much to say, except wow. The rest is shown by this 3 minute video of his journey. Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo would be proud.

Enjoy.

What is art? Who is in charge of calling a piece of artwork distasteful or great? These are the kind of questions that arrive when viewing these photos by Julia Chesky. Here are a few words that accompanied the following images:

“Our lovely model, Chris, has lived on Mercer Street for a few decades by choice. I’m calling this series The Original Hipster because on most days he doesn’t even look like he’s truly homeless.“

It may be because of the hot and humid weather or a preppy undertone that is penetrating into street fashion, but more and more men are starting to roll up their sleeves and I’m not talking about their shirts. I started doing it early spring to give a dapper look to my everyday style. I took a pair of J. Crew’s broken in chinos and paired them with a brown leather belt and a white shirt and some dirty converses. Before I would walk out the door I would bend over and start cuffing each pant leg. At the time, it seemed like I was the only one doing and I definitely felt a little strange with my bare ankles visible for the world to see. You must understand that before then, I never wore shorts unless it was for a sport-like activity. I didn’t find the appealing in any way. It was the age of the “baggy” look and I had never been associated with that.

Oh, Kanye. Oh, Terry. What are we going to do with you? Is that even healthy? I guess hygiene and adequate are no existent when doing a Terry Richardson photo shoot. These pictures that Terry just added to his Tumblr are a bit dated since Yeezy is no longer rocking the Fro-llet, but they are fascinating pictures nonetheless.
